On Sunday October 6, 2019 we had an awesome experience of remembering the past and preparting for the future
We started with a catered breakfast and had 53 people come and share fellowship with us.
At 10:00 am David Jennings shared an historical presentation using pictures from the collection of his parents, Denny and Marie Jennings founders of the Bethel BIC Church. It was an awe inspiring look into their lives of faith. We had 152 people attend this presentation.
Following a short break we shared in Worship that ended with Communion. We were blessed to have 176 people join us for this service.
After the Worship Service we had a fellowship Luncheon provided by the families of the church.
Our guests of honor included:
Bishop Rob Patterson & his spouse Daryl, Former Bishop and Moderator of the BIC General Conference Warren Hoffman & His spouse Connie, Former Pastor Gerald Wingert, (90 years old) the pastor who took over after the Jennings and three of his children, Former Pastors Carl Ginder and Debbie and Phil Madison and Sheree. The last two of the Jennings’ surviving Children David Jennings and Lois White and husband Ralph. We were also fortunate to have Jerry Haynes the author of our centennial history.
The worship was led by “For Thee I Am” a youth worship Team from the River of Life Church in Dublin. Donna Smith sang the hymn ‘In the Garden” which was Marie Jennings favorite and Pattie Blouse, Devona Cockerham and Yvette Leonard sang the hymn “I Will Meet You In The Morning” which was Denny Jennings favorite. Joshua Harrod sang “The Lord’s Prayer” as preparation for Communion. At the close of our service a singing group from the Lighthouse Church brought special music as we transitioned into our luncheon.
All who gathered with us expressed that this was a once in a lifetime experience and all were very blessed!
A special thank you to all who helped get the church ready, decorated, set up and took down. YOU are greatly appreciated.
We hope to have pictures at a later date.
